No Need to Run

An older man in Annaba wrapped in a cream burnous and a small dark flat cap sits side-on on an upright emerald-green suitcase, leaning back with both hands behind his head, in a field fading from pale sun-faded peach to muted deep brown between stepped chalk-white panels.

I don’t wait for the train. I let it come to me.

See it in your space

My bag has been packed for weeks. I sit on it at the end of the platform, hands behind my head, and leave the board to the worried.

On October 21, 2026, trains ran again between Annaba and Tunis, after weeks of track works on the Algerian side of the line, between Aïn Sennour and Souk Ahras. The line had been relaunched only in August 2024, after thirty years without a train.

Somewhere down the track it is coming. It found its way back once. It can find me here.
